Career information

Mr. Zimmerman came to WSU from the Chicago Medical School, where he served as Senior Associate Dean for Administration, Accreditation and Finance and was also Vice President of the Rosalind Franklin University Health System. He has also worked in the not for profit sector as Executive Director of HealthReach Incorporated, a not for profit free clinic and pharmacy serving the medically disadvantaged populations of Lake County, Illinois and as founding chair of the Illinois Association for Free and Charitable Clinics. In his earlier career he held executive and management positions in specialty consulting companies providing engineering and software technology solutions to industry and government.

1996 – 2004 CEO and President, The Cognet Group Incorporated – An information technology consulting company specializing in enterprise level commercial power plant performance monitoring systems, GPS driven electric transmission and distribution system maintenance and railroad and trucking industry logistics

1991 – 1996 Division Manager, United Energy Services Corporation – An engineering consulting company serving the commercial energy industry and Department of Energy national laboratories

1985 – 1991 Vice President Engineering Services, GENSYS Corporation – An engineering consulting company specializing in commercial nuclear power plant regulatory compliance, startup and operations
