We are a group of dedicated clinician educators united by a common purpose: to develop, recruit and retain internists to serve communities in Washington state. The main inpatient clinical training site, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, is uniquely positioned in an urban center with close access to many maritime and mountain rural and underserved communities in Washington.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the second\u202fand third\u202fyears, residents rotate in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout western Washington. These opportunities in community-based and critical access hospitals provide emergency, basic, and chronic disease management services to remote populations of Washington. They are essential to the health, care, and viability of our rural and underserved communities. Collaborating with these communities is central to our aim of improving access to high value care and well-trained general internists.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our program prepares residents for the future of health care delivery through our distinctive training model. Residents spend a portion of their training each year integrated into an evolving value-based model of care focusing on care coordination, patient outcomes, caregiver satisfaction, and optimized health care for high-risk populations.
