Academic Resources

WSU Health Sciences Spokane Resources

The following resources are all housed in the Student Success Center, which is located on the 1st floor of the Student Academic Center.

Student Accommodations

WSU Health Sciences Spokane is committed to providing equal opportunity in its services, programs, and employment for individuals with disabilities through services provided by the Office of Access Services. This is also the office students with documented disabilities will need to work with for reasonable accommodations.

The Technical Standards Policy provides information on the technical standards of our academic program that must be met with or without reasonable accommodations in order to be admitted to, be retained in, and graduate from the MD program. This policy also provides information on how to request reasonable accommodations.

Student Learning Assistance

WSU Health Sciences Spokane through its Student Success Center offers support and guidance for students to enhance their learning so that they can thrive in any learning context including in research, service-learning, and clinical settings. Services of the Office of Student Learning Assistance include time management assistance, individualized learning strategies, and test preparation and test taking strategies.

Student Counseling Services

Confidential student counseling is available through the WSU Health Sciences Spokane’s Student Success Center. Payment of the student health fee covers the service so there is no additional cost to students. Counseling services provide a safe and confidential space to help students explore the challenges of life and being a medical student. Additional information, including how to make appointments can be found by contacting the Office of Student Counseling Services.

Student Counseling Services also operates the Student Care Network which allows you to share concerns about a student’s emotional or psychological well-being, physical health, or academic performance with counselors who can help. Notices of concern can be made at this link.

Student Tutoring and Writing Assistance

The Tutoring Office provides peer tutoring for content areas in the medical school curriculum. Tutoring services are covered through the student activities fee so it is free to medical students. Requests for tutoring can be made directly on the Student Tutoring website. The Student Success Center also provided Writing Support for all students at WSU Health Sciences Spokane.
