SPRC members are among six DARPA Risers finalists

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Courtney Kurinec and Research Assistant Lillian Skeiky of the WSU Sleep and Performance Research Center (SPRC) in the Department of Translational Medicine and Physiology. Kurinec and Skeiky were among six DARPA Risers finalists selected to present talks this week at the DARPA Forward national security conference at WSU.

Kurinec and Skeiky each were selected as two of the top six from a cohort of 21 early-career scientists presenting posters with their research proposals to DARPA program managers and university faculty and were invited to give talks based on their selection.

Kurinec presented “Sleep Deprivation Impairs Effective Decision Making in Dynamic, Operationally Complex Environments.”

Skeiky presented “Increased Resilience to Sleep Loss: Uncovering Mechanisms Underlying Efficiency in Banking Sleep.”

DARPA Risers are up-and-coming standouts in their fields whose research is related to national security and demonstrates the potential to lead to a technological surprise.

We’re so proud to have these two represent us so well!
