First-year medical student Robin Von Davies testified on behalf of the Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility (WPSR) for HB 1045, which advocates for the implementation of the Evergreen Basic Income Pilot Program.
The Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) pilot program would be for all Washington residents whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level who are 18 years or older.
“We believe everyone in Washington deserves access to healthcare without having to worry about inheriting financial burdens,” says Robin.
“As physicians and healthcare providers, we understand firsthand how income and equality, poverty, and cost of living profoundly impact health outcomes.”
