WSU Alliance for Health Science Professional Educator Networking (ASPEN) Speakers Series

Drs. Tracy Klein, Janessa Graves, Dawn DeWitt, Mary Paine, and Patricia Pearce are pleased to announce an interdisciplinary speaker series featuring international and national experts in the health sciences focusing on mentoring.

Each speaker will discuss the benefits and challenges of working interprofessionally, especially as these activities are recognized in promotion and scholarship.

  • January 30 | 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Drs. Mary Peace McCrae and Kristen Zimmerman, pharmacist authors of “Identifying Components of Success within Health Sciences Mentoring Programs through Review of the Literature” from Virginia Commonwealth University
  • February 6 | 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Dr. Marvella Ford, public health researcher and endowed chair of the Cancer Disparities Center at the Medical University of South Carolina
  • February 13 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Dr. Kathleen Sutcliffe, Professor in the Carey School of Business at Johns Hopkins University and author of “Managing the Unexpected: Resilient Performance in an Age of Uncertainty”
  • February 20 | 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Dr. Elda Ramirez, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Texas, Houston, founder of the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners
  • March 28 | 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Dr. Richard James, Professor from the University of Melbourne, author of “The Eleven Effective Practices of Supervision”. Dr. James will speak from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a subsequent workshop scheduled to apply his principles to mentoring others led by Drs. Dawn DeWitt and Tracy Klein from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
