SUMMARY:Impact Over Speed: The Power of Empathy and Timing at Work
DESCRIPTION:November 19\, 2026\nNoon – 1:00 p.m. PDT\nMed and Zoom\nThis event is hosted by the Office for Faculty Affairs and Continuing Professional Development in collaboration with Craig Fischer\, MS\, Senior Director\, Office of Organizational Leadership and Development. \nBuilding on Tina Lindquist’s “Right Support\, Right Time: Helping Students Without Adding to Their Plate” session on Tuesday\, November 17\, this session brings the ideas into your everyday work. \nWe’ll shift from student-facing examples to the realities of faculty and staff communication\, the emails\, requests\, and quick decisions that shape your day. You’ll explore how timing\, clarity\, and awareness of bandwidth can either create unnecessary friction or help work flow more easily. \nYou’ll walk away with practical strategies you can use right away\, including how to: \n\nMake requests in a way that doesn’t create extra work for others\nTime communication so it lands well\, not just quickly\nReduce back-and-forth and clarify expectations up front\nRecognize when someone may be at a “critical juncture” and adjust accordingly\n\nThis is a session focused on small\, doable shifts that make work feel more manageable\, for you and the people you work with. \nThis session is intended for College of Medicine faculty and staff only. \nPlease note: This session will be recorded and made available on TalentLMS approximately 2–3 weeks after the session. \nThis activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™️. \nWashington State University is committed to providing equal opportunity in its services\, programs\, and employment for individuals with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are available for persons with disabilities. If you need accommodations to fully participate in this session\, please contact medicine.faculty.development@wsu.edu at least 5 days prior to the event. \nRegister
