SUMMARY:Difficult Conversations\, Better Outcomes: Managing Conflict Effectively
DESCRIPTION:September 15\, 2026\nNoon–1:00 p.m.\nZoom\nThis event is hosted by the Office for Faculty Affairs and Continuing Professional Development in collaboration with Craig Fischer\, Senior Director of Organizational Leadership and Development in The Office of Organizational and Leadership Development. \nConflict is an inevitable part of working with others—and when handled well\, it can strengthen relationships\, improve decision-making\, and build trust. Yet most of us have received little training in how to navigate disagreement effectively. This session provides practical tools and strategies for approaching difficult conversations with greater confidence\, clarity\, and emotional intelligence. \nParticipants will learn how to recognize common sources of workplace conflict\, communicate effectively when emotions are high\, and address tension before it escalates. Through real-world examples and actionable techniques\, leaders will gain skills to engage in productive conversations\, manage challenging dynamics\, and turn conflict into an opportunity for collaboration and growth. \nThis session is intended for College of Medicine faculty and staff only. \nRegister \nPlease note: This session will be recorded and made available on TalentLMS approximately 2–3 weeks after the session. \nThis activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™️. \nWashington State University is committed to providing equal opportunity in its services\, programs\, and employment for individuals with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are available for persons with disabilities. If you need accommodations to fully participate in this session\, please contact medicine.faculty.development@wsu.edu at least 5 days prior to the event.

SUMMARY:Sleep and Performance Research Center Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Washington State University – Sleep and Performance Research Center \nRearrangement of the Molecular Clockwork to Regulate Seasonal Physiology\nSeptember 22\, 2026\n12:10–1:10 p.m. PDT\nCCRS 250 or Zoom\nSpeaker\nSergio Hidalgo S.\, PhD\nWSU Deptartment of Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience \nDr. Hidalgo received his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Pontifical Catholic University (Chile) in 2020. He also obtained a Ph.D. in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Bristol (UK) in 2020 as part of a dual degree. In 2020\, he joined Dr. Joanna Chiu at the University of California\, Davis\, as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the role of the circadian clock in seasonal physiology. His lab studies the effect of changing seasons on brain structure and function\, from molecules to physiology and behavior. To do this\, his lab uses the fly\, Drosophila melanogaster\, as an animal model. His lab aims to understand how these brain changes occur\, how environmental signals are integrated to trigger these changes\, and how dysregulation of this process contributes to diseases\, such as Parkinson’s\, Alzheimer’s\, and schizophrenia\, among other topics.

SUMMARY:Clinical Use of Generative AI: Understanding Liability Before You Act
DESCRIPTION:December 3\, 2026\n12:10–1:00 p.m. PST\nAs generative AI becomes increasingly integrated into healthcare\, clinicians must understand the legal and liability implications that accompany its use.
