Harvard graduate at the University of Tokyo, UCSF and former Fulbright Fellow at the Max-Planck Institute, Hensch helped launch the RIKEN Brain Science Institute as Laboratory Head for Neuronal Circuit Development and Critical Period Mechanisms Research before returning to Harvard in 2006. Here he directs the NIMH Silvio Conte Center for Mental Health Research and leads and advises global research networks such as the International Research Center for Neurointelligence, CIFAR Child Brain Development network, NCCR Synapsy, and National Scientific Council on the Developing Child.
