First-year medical students Gabriela Leon and Destiny Hernandez have been accepted into the 2023 Latino Center for Health Graduate Student Scholars Fellowship Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program recognizes outstanding students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting the health and well-being of Latinx\/e communities in Washington State. Particularly in the following areas \u2014physical, mental, occupational or environmental health; health policy; healthcare leadership & administration; or violence and injury prevention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’re proud to have Gabriela and Destiny at the college and excited to see their continued impacts on the Latinx\/e communities in Washington and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More about the program<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Purpose<\/strong>
(1) Support the next generation of leaders and scholars who will promote the health and well-being of Latinx\/e communities in our state.
(2) Expand the educational pipeline for Latinx\/e and other underrepresented groups and work towards population parity in our state\u2019s healthcare workforce; and
(3) Convene an interdisciplinary cohort of health sciences students in the spirit of facilitating personal and professional connections and community-building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
