Floyd College of Medicine. The office serves as the home for the newly launched Master of Healthcare Administration and Leadership (MHAL) program. Now the office will also provide leadership development for faculty and staff while supporting the overall culture of the College of Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLeadership development is crucial for organizations to become sustainable by building an engaged and effective leadership team,&#8221; said Luisita Francis, MD, associate dean of leadership education and development. &#8220;By ensuring that the administration, faculty, and staff of the College of Medicine also have opportunities for leadership development, we will create a continuum of excellence in leadership throughout the college.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-font-size--xxmedium wp-block-heading\">Launch of the Master of Healthcare Administration and Leadership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This fall, the college launched a new degree program, the <a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/mhal\/\">Master of Healthcare Administration and Leadership (MHAL)<\/a>. It is a collaboration between the College of Medicine and the Carson College of Business. Uniquely designed to be flexible to individual needs and interests, students may pursue individual certificates in any order or apply to complete the MHAL degree. The certificate programs include Foundations of Leadership, Essentials of Health Care, and Managing the Business of Health Care. Applications for fall 2024 are now open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-font-size--xxmedium wp-block-heading\">Leadership Development Workshops<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Leadership Education and Development will also provide large group and team workshops, individual team consulting, leadership development onboarding programming, and coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We can empower individuals to become effective, inclusive, and visionary leaders who can effectively navigate uncertainty and help address health care challenges,\u201d added Francis. Here is a preview of the workshops scheduled to begin in January 2024:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>January: Psychological Safety<\/strong> \u2014 Explore psychological safety and how leaders and team members can foster it.<\/li><li><strong>February: Emotional Intelligence<\/strong> \u2014 Tools for applying emotional intelligence effectively.<\/li><li><strong>March: Trust<\/strong> \u2014 Types of trust integral to successful team performance.<\/li><li><strong>April: Iterative Failure<\/strong> \u2014&nbsp;How to reposition failure as part of an interactive process of sustained long-term success.<\/li><li><strong>May: Mission &amp; Vision<\/strong> \u2014 Explore mission, vision, and purpose from the perspective of executive leaders and team members.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Updates from the office, including workshop dates and other educational opportunities, will be published to the college\u2019s news site and events calendar and featured in the weekly e-newsletters.
