Floyd College of Medicine researcher Hans Van Dongen, PhD, was featured in <em>The Guardian<\/em> in an article exploring the science of night owls versus early birds and whether it&#8217;s possible to change from one to the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Your chronotype, or your body&#8217;s natural inclination to sleep at a certain time, tends to shift as you age. It may also be influenced by genetics,&#8221; Van Dongen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChildren born to evening-type parents are more likely to be evening-types, and likewise for morning-types,\u201d he told <em>The<\/em> <em>Guardian<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">Van Dongen is a professor in the college\u2019s Department of Translational Medicine and Physiology and a core
