Floyd College of Medicine, recently published research on stent patency in thrombotic iliac vein stents, contributing to knowledge about how to best treat blood clots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He completed the work during his MS1 summer at the Dotter Institute at Oregon Health &amp; Science University School of Medicine, widely regarded as the birthplace of interventional radiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00270-025-04244-y\">Impact of Diameter Mismatch Between the Inflow Vein and Stent on Patency in Thrombotic Iliac Vein Lesions<\/a>,&#8221; the study found that a mismatch between vein and stent size during iliac vein stent placement significantly increases the risk of stent failure, especially when the vein is under 6.5 mm or the mismatch exceeds 21.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While at the institute, Sangha also contributed to three research projects that were presented as posters at the 2025 Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Annual Scientific Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. Most recently, he presented three research posters at the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He completed the projects with the mentorship of Seattle gastroenterologist and WSU College of Medicine community faculty member Mohit Girotra MD, FASGE, FACG, AGAF, FACP. <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/ajg\/fulltext\/2025\/10002\/s159_diagnostic_utility_of_biliary_brush_cytology.160.aspx\">One project <\/a>was completed in collaboration with Pierce Claassen, MD, a College of Medicine alum and current internal medicine resident at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am fortunate to have exceptional mentorship that has allowed me to explore my interests and engage deeply in meaningful pursuits,&#8221; Sangha said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Harneet Sangha, a third-year medical student at the WSU Elson S.
