{"id":35293,"date":"2025-12-16T11:13:58","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T19:13:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/news\/?p=35293"},"modified":"2025-12-16T14:45:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T22:45:44","slug":"pbs-highlights-wsu-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/news\/2025\/12\/16\/pbs-highlights-wsu-research\/","title":{"rendered":"PBS Highlights WSU Research on Alzheimer&#8217;s in Native American Populations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PBS highlighted ongoing research at Washington State University about Alzheimer&#8217;s disease in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI\/AN) populations in a December 8 episode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, led by WSU faculty Amanda Boyd, PhD, and Cole Allick, PhD, MHA, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Washington, aims to boost AI\/AN participation in Alzheimer&#8217;s research, rebuilding trust and ultimately helping address disparities in rates of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease to achieve better health outcomes. The work is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boyd is co-director of the Institute for Research and Education to Advance Community Health (IREACH) and professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. She also leads WSU&#8217;s Native American Programs and the Center for Native American Research and Collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Allick is an IREACH faculty member and assistant professor of public health in the Paul G.
