Floyd College of Medicine graduate student Louisa Ramirez Forney was selected for an Outstanding Student Award by the Washington State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, part of the nation&#8217;s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual award recognizes a student in a coordinated dietetics program for exceptional leadership and academic excellence. Coordinated programs include both the necessary course work and supervised practice hours to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Louisa&nbsp;earned this nomination through her stalwart efforts, professionalism, and demonstrated passion for nutrition education,&#8221; wrote Director of Graduate Dietetics April Davis, PhD, MS, RDN, ACSM-CEP, in her nomination. &#8220;She is an emerging leader in the dietetic space and will provide meaningful impact for the patient populations she serves.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forney is studying to become an RDN through the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/nutrition-exercise-physiology\/mscpd\/\">Master of Science Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology<\/a> (MS CPD) program. She is completing her internship at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center while pursuing an MBA in Healthcare Administration, and has held multiple leadership roles in service and academic organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awardees were recognized at the academy&#8217;s annual conference this month in Vancouver.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elson S.
