Floyd College of Medicine&nbsp;faculty and staff gathered&nbsp;in Spokane&nbsp;this month&nbsp;to recognize those who epitomize&nbsp;excellence&nbsp;in pursuit of the college\u2019s&nbsp;mission and&nbsp;vision of a healthier Washington and beyond.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony featured expanded&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/faculty-staff-awards\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/faculty-staff-awards\/\">award categories<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;capture the&nbsp;many&nbsp;areas&nbsp;where members of the college community are making&nbsp;a difference, including leadership, service,&nbsp;mentorship,&nbsp;teaching,&nbsp;research, and community impact.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty and staff were also recognized for promotions and years of service, reflecting decades of dedication to medical education and other health sciences.&nbsp;Please join us in commending their work and&nbsp;congratulate&nbsp;our 2026 awardees!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026&nbsp;Award Recipients&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clinical Teaching Award&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shawn Schweitzer, MD&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Schweitzer, a practicing internist and&nbsp;clinical faculty for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/gme\/im-everett\/\">Internal Medicine Residency Program\u2013Everett<\/a>,&nbsp;was recognized for&nbsp;going&nbsp;above and beyond&nbsp;to ensure students and resident&nbsp;physicians&nbsp;receive&nbsp;a supportive&nbsp;and rigorous medical education.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Dr. Schweitzer is an exceptional clinician and educator whose impact on learners and patients alike is profound, he is widely regarded as a physician of outstanding clinical acumen, and he is deeply beloved by his patients for both his medical&nbsp;expertise&nbsp;and his compassionate bedside manner. She was recognized for her&nbsp;mentorship and&nbsp;support&nbsp;for&nbsp;WSU&nbsp;medical students and&nbsp;aspiring physicians enrolled in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.wsu.edu\/health-equity-office\/pathway-programs\/post-baccalaureate-pathway\/\">Nmryaqs<\/a>, a&nbsp;post-baccalaureate pathway&nbsp;program&nbsp;for enrolled tribal members, as well as her contribution to department operations and the wider medical education community.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Heidi&nbsp;demonstrates&nbsp;an unwavering commitment to students.
