Exercise Physiology (MS CPD) prepares you to enter the field of nutrition and dietetics as an entry-level Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through coordinated didactic coursework and experiential supervised practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program\u2019s interprofessional focus on the effects of nutrition and exercise on human health allows you to specialize in dietetics at the graduate level and develop a solid grounding in the principles of exercise physiology, exercise testing, and exercise prescription through undergraduate coursework and an elective graduate course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our graduate program prepares you for the registration examination for dietetics administered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) in partnership with the <a variety of settings. accredited curriculum prepares students for immediate employment or further study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MS CPD degree requires a minimum of 35 graded graduate-level credits, with 19 of these graded credits comprised of experiential rotation courses to meet the ACEND\u2013required minimum 1,000 hours of supervised practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">The MS CPD degree requires three to five semesters to complete, with the amount of time to program completion determined by the student\u2019s undergraduate degree and potential additional coursework.<\/p>\n\n\n<div wsu-button--size-small\">\n\t\t\t\n\t\tRequired Courses\t\t\t<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Experiential Learning (Supervised Practice)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each student is placed with preceptors at supervised practice sites around the state of Washington and northern Idaho for a majority (&gt;70%) of the 1,020 supervised practice hours required for the MS CPD, with the remainder being completed with faculty on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">The MS CPD degree divides these hours across the following practice areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Clinical Nutrition (440 hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foodservice Management (200 hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community Nutrition (200 hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise and Health Promotion (180 hours)*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*For students who enter the MS CPD without practical hours in exercise and health promotion, they will complete two semesters of a Practicum course to acquire 180 experiential hours and required competencies in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Distance Education Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some students may complete a portion of didactic coursework via distance education, based on the supervised practice placement location. The distance education components may include occasional recorded lecture sessions (&lt;10%) and allowance for virtual course attendance for students who are placed at supervised practice sites closer to regional WSU campuses located in Everett, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same syllabi, learning activities, and student learning objectives are used for all students in a course, regardless of physical campus location. Examinations are taken at the WSU campus closest to each student\u2019s supervised practice location and delivered through the Learning Management System (LMS) with settings that apply consistently to all students, regardless of physical campus location. There is a testing room and proctor for each campus. All students attend the campus closest to their supervised practice location and take examinations under the same level of supervision, with consistent pre-exam instructions across campuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COVID-19 Vaccinations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>COVID-19 vaccination is no longer a University requirement; however, students may be required to show evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination at supervised practice sites.
