Applicants to the Master of Science Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (MS CPD) must have a bachelor\u2019s degree that satisfies one of the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science\/Physiology from a regionally accredited university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition\/Dietetics from a regionally accredited university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from WSU, or other regionally accredited university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">Eligible applicants must also have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A cumulative GPA of 3.0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the MS CPD prerequisite courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No grade lower than a C in any individual prerequisite course (C- does not count)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology no longer requires the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for admission to the MS CPD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acceptance into the MS CPD is based on meeting the admissions criteria, an applicant\u2019s readiness for the program as judged by the Admissions Committee, and the availability of quality supervised practice sites for the clinical nutrition, food service management, and community nutrition class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following prerequisite undergraduate courses are required. Classes can be taken at a regionally accredited university or community college. Generally, all prerequisite coursework should be no more than seven years old at the time of application. However, each situation is reviewed individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">One semester or one quarter of each course is required. Prerequisites do not need to be complete at the time of application; however, if accepted to the MS CPD, the classes must be successfully finished with a grade of C or better (C- does not count) by July 31 of the year admitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-list--columns-2\">\n<li>General Chemistry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organic Chemistry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biochemistry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General Biology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Human Anatomy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Human Physiology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Human Nutrition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psychology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Statistics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Foundational Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the Prerequisites listed above,&nbsp;at least one set of the following foundational courses is required to be completed prior to program admission. These are the major-level courses found in bachelor\u2019s degrees in either Nutrition\/Dietetics or Exercise Science\/Physiology. Foundational courses completed at the master\u2019s degree level are also accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">Nutrition Foundational Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-list--columns-2\">\n<li>Food Preparation for Health Sciences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Macronutrient Metabolism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Micronutrient Metabolism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nutritional Assessment and Lifestyle Counseling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pathophysiology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Management and Facilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nutrition Throughout the Lifecycle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading wsu-spacing-after--xsmall\">Exercise Foundational Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-list--columns-2\">\n<li>Strength Training and Conditioning: Theory and Application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise Physiology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise Testing and Prescription<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise Practicum (including a minimum of 90 hours working with clients)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n    <\/div><\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-color-background--gray-85 wsu-width--full\"  >\r\n    <div class=\"wsu-section__inner wsu-width--content\">    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading white-text\">Timeline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"white-text\">The MS CPD program starts in the fall semester only. <strong>The application deadline is January 10 every year. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"white-text\">\n<li>January 10 \u2013 Deadline for application submission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End of January \u2013 Applications screened for meeting overall and prerequisite GPA requirements; if GPA requirements are met, applications are sent to the Admissions Committee with the grades blinded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First two weeks in February \u2013 Admissions Committee reads and scores applications using a common rubric.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mid-February \u2013 A select group of applicants are invited to interview for up to 30 seats available in the MS CPD.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End of February \u2013 Virtual interviews are conducted by Admissions Committee; interviews are rated using a common point system and the score is added to the overall application score.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early March \u2013 Offers of admissions sent by email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>March 10 \u2013 Confirmation of intent to enroll in the MS CPD due to program director.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n    <\/div><\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-color-background--gray-5 wsu-width--full\"  >\r\n    <div class=\"wsu-section__inner wsu-width--content\">    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications for admission are submitted online through the <a href=\"https:\/\/dicas.cas.myliaison.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/login\">Dietetics Inclusive Centralized Application System<\/a>&nbsp;(DICAS).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Application fee is $90. Initially, $50 is paid through DICAS. Once the application is submitted to WSU, the remaining $40 is paid through the myWSU student portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required materials include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>WSU Graduate School Application (via DICAS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal Statement: Please provide a 300- to 500-word statement of purpose that introduces yourself and motivations for entering the fields of dietetics, nutrition, and exercise physiology.
