Become a preceptor
Teaching medical students is one of the top three predictors of physician career satisfaction. The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine seeks volunteer to work with our medical students.
What is the role of a preceptor?
Preceptors are a critical part of our community-based approach to medical education. All preceptors must first be appointed as faculty.
The job of a preceptor is to:
- Infuse energy into eager, enthusiastic medical students
- Introduce students to clinical experiences and facilitate clinical skills practice and development
- Help students get to know the clinical site/health system, colleagues (and interprofessional team members), and the community
- Develop relationships with students and recruit the best for potential employment
