Additional Information
Dr. Christopher Hayworth has a broad synapse-to-systems training in neurobiology. Most of his work involves one and two photon repeated intracranial brain imaging studies using AAV-directed expression of transgenes that allow for optical monitoring of intracellular calcium and the manipulation of intracellular regulatory pathways. In addition to these cell-specific manipulations, he has expanded into the sleep field using polysomnography, EEG/EMG, to record and monitor phases of sleep including rapid eye movement, REM, non-REM and wakefulness. He enjoys getting on the river, playing guitar, painting and reading science fiction.
