What inspired you to pursue medicine?
The thing that drew me to medicine was the ability to use my skills to directly impact people’s lives in a concrete and meaningful way. As a primary care physician, I’ve enjoyed developing relationships with my patients and helping them make decisions about their health that are aligned with their goals. As a faculty preceptor, I love helping residents develop their communication skills along with their medical knowledge.  Outside of direct patient care, I’m passionate about quality improvement and patient safety and am always striving to develop processes to help us take better care of our patients.

What are your passions and hobbies outside of work?
Anything outdoors! Hiking, backpacking, dispersed car camping in national forests, skiing, snowshoeing, cycling, running, stand up paddle boarding. I’m also a bit of a wine dork and quite enjoy Pacific Northwest wine tasting in Woodinville, WA, Walla Walla, WA and Willamette Valley, OR.

What would you do if you hadn’t pursued medicine?
Become a winemaker! I love learning about how different grape varietals, soils, geography and microclimates influence the taste of the wine.
