Shaekira Niehuser is a Registered Dietitian and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology Program at Washington State University. After becoming an RD, Shaekira worked as a clinical dietitian at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. While at Sacred Heart, she specialized in nutrition support and critical care nutrition. She is also a board certified nutrition support clinician.
Shaekira joined the MS-CPD faculty at WSU in the spring of 2016. She enjoys teaching the clinical nutrition didactic and supervised practice courses in the MS-CPD program. Her areas of interest include improving the outcomes of patients diagnosed with protein calorie malnutrition, teaching clinicians and students the skills to implement nutrition focused physical exams into their clinical practice, and incorporating simulation into the clinical nutrition didactic training.
