M.S. SHS admissions

Admissions

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences’ Master of Science in speech-language pathology is a member of the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP). The WRGP allows students to enroll at participating institutions outside of their home state and pay resident tuition. The participating states are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences follows the WSU Graduate School Guidelines for applicants. The M.S. SHS requires application and admittance. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 of the last 60 credits is required. The program admits for fall semester only.
Complete and submit the following items:

  • Application through the WSU Graduate School
  • GRE Scores
  • Personal Statement
  • Resume
  • Three completed recommendation grids (instructions below)

GRE Scores

GRE scores (Inst. Code: 4705) must be submitted at the time of application to the graduate school.

Personal Statement

Applicants are required to submit personal statements (maximum 350 words) about topics such as experiences you are most proud of, a challenge that led to positive changes in your life, and preparations you have undertaken to meet the rigors of graduate school.

Recommenders

Applicants are asked to include names and contact information of three recommenders, including instructors, employers, and/or volunteer supervisors. The Graduate School will contact each for recommendation.

Recommendation Grid

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences uses a recommendation grid in place of a traditional recommendation letter. Referees must download and complete the grid found below before uploading online.

Interview

Applicants may be invited to interview, either in person or on Skype.
