Prospective Students
The department offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences and the Master of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences in speech-language pathology. Both degree programs offer innovative educational components grounded in cutting-edge research and engaged community outreach. Our academic teaching and learning philosophy is student-centered, research-based, and writing intensive. Our curricula and our research address the physiological, neurological, and behavioral dimensions of normal and disordered communication across the lifespan.
The Master of Science program pairs academic course work with clinical practicum to prepare students for careers as speech-language pathologists providing compassionate, personalized care to individuals evidencing a wide variety of speech, language, voice, swallowing, and hearing disorders. Students are prepared for careers in medical and educational settings and across diverse communities.
The undergraduate program is considered pre-professional and grounded in the University’s common core requirements to help students acquire broad knowledge and transferable skills to complement their major programs of study. Our major prepares students for graduate study in speech-language pathology and audiology, as well as a range of other careers.
