Celebrating our Vancouver colleagues

One of the exciting parts about creating the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine has been building connections with the leadership at the other WSU campuses, in the Tri-Cities, Vancouver and Everett, and with healthcare leaders in those cities. They are working with the founding dean and other College of Medicine administrators in Spokane to develop a statewide plan for WSU medical education. Floyd remembered in Pullman, Michigan, Missouri

The late WSU President Elson S. Floyd was lovingly remembered during a ceremony at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman on Wednesday, August 26. You can read more about it here. It was a moving and wonderful tribute to the man who led WSU from 2007 until his death in June. The on-campus memorial was pushed back to late August so students and faculty could attend after their return for fall semester.

Second founding dean candidate visits

Dr. Dawn DeWitt (here speaking with Chancellor Lisa Brown) is the second of three finalist candidates for founding dean of the new WSU College of Medicine to visit the Spokane campus.

DeWitt has been a professor of medicine at the University of British Columbia since 2012. She’s also the associate dean for her university’s MD Undergraduate Program.

Before coming to Vancouver, DeWitt graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed her post-graduation residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle. She worked in the UW’s WWAMI medical education program for several … » More …

Gozal is the first of three finalist candidates for the WSU College of Medicine’s founding dean to make a formal visit to Spokane.
