Helpful hints about sections of application

Personal Statement

This is an opportunity to share with the Admissions Committee short- and long-term career goals; reasons for choosing the WSU BS NEP program; the characteristics/aptitudes you embody to become an effective nutrition and exercise physiology professional. You may also want to include any obstacles you foresee in pursuing this degree, and other pertinent information you want to share such as experience as a student athlete, personal exercise and diet habits, long-standing interest in exercise, food and nutrition, and volunteer or professional work experiences.

Letters of Recommendation

Applicants must include three letters of reference, ideally two from instructors and one from an employer or volunteer supervisor.

Interview

An applicant will be invited to interview if the BS NEP Admissions Committee requires more information to determine if the student is prepared for a rigorous health sciences degree program. If applicant meets the GPA requirements, has strong recommendations, and well-documented experiences in the field, an interview will not be required.

Other Useful Information

Background Checks

For students offered admission to the BS NEP program, background checks are required for the internship portion of the degree. If a student has a criminal conviction on record, the student may or may not be able to complete the internship and the degree, regardless of whether WSU has granted admission to the BS NEP program.

Financial Aid

Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid by the priority deadline. More information can be found at WSU Spokane Financial Aid and at FAFSA. Also, students admitted to the BS NEP program are eligible for NEP Department scholarships.

International Students

International students are defined as those who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States. For more information on the WSU application processes for international students, go to ip.wsu.edu.
