Trained as an applied mathematician, Michael Rempe, PhD uses mathematical models and statistics to understand sleep, both in humans and in other mammals. Specifically, his work fits into three areas:

1) He performs statistical analyses to understand sleep, fatigue and performance in airline pilots; 2) He develops and analyzes mathematical models of neurobiology underlying sleep to understand mechanisms and to further quantify experimental results; 3) He performs data analysis and develops computational tools to complement experimental approaches.
