Forbes recently spoke with Indigenous medical students who matched into residency programs to learn more about what this moment means to them, their families, and Indigenous nations. Among those featured was fourth-year medical student Esmeralda Lopez.
“I would not be here if it were not for my community which has taught me resiliency, humility, strength, and reciprocity,” says Esmeralda.
