Submission Information

The Communications and Marketing team provides a range of internal and external communication services for the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine to promote the college’s brand and share our mission with the public.

Submit a request for a story, announcement, press release, or event below. All submissions are subject to review and approval by the Communications and Marketing team.

All submissions should be received at least 5 business days prior to desired publication or distribution date. The submitter is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all information. If you have questions prior to submitting please email medicine.communications@wsu.edu.

News

News and information of interest to faculty, staff, students and the WSU College of Medicine community that display on the College of Medicine News site. Story lengths should be in the 400 to 600-word range or shorter.

Please be sure to include any links or images that pertain to your story.

Press Release

Press releases should promote WSU College of Medicine accomplishments, support the college brand and elevate the college’s profile. Press releases should be of interest to general audiences outside the WSU community. Writers should indicate clearly that an item is intended for external distribution to media outlets and describe why it would be of interest to a general audience. The communications team will provide guidance on whether information is better suited as an external press release or a WSU Insider story.

The Communications and Marketing team partners with the central News and Media Relations team to prepare and distribute press releases.

Announcements & Notices

These are highly transactional types of notices of general college interest. Examples include:

  • Targeted training and event opportunities
  • Campus- and audience-specific sales, fundraisers, events
  • Requests for volunteers or recruitment opportunities
  • Shared leave notices
  • Retirement notices, including invitations to farewell gatherings

Events

All events submitted should be affiliated with the College of Medicine and of interest to the larger WSU community. Make sure to include at much information as possible including how to register, location, cost, etc. Examples include:

  • Workshop or seminar for faculty, staff or students
  • Ceremony or service
  • Student event or activity
