MD students participate in the the American College of Cardiology/World Cardiology Conference

Heart disease is the top cause of death in the U.S. To join global conversations, MD students Pranav Mellacheruvu and Yordan Elala attended the American College of Cardiology/World Cardiology Conference to share their research on improving cardiovascular care.

Pranav Mellacheruvu presented on “Comparing the Efficacy of Genome Wide Association Studies Polygenic Scores and ASCVD Score for CVD Risk Stratification” an idea derived from the work of mentor Dr. Pradeep Natarajan at the Broad Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Yordan Elala’s research focused on investigating Statin prescription patterns in patients with chronic and acute hematological malignancies patients: a cardio-oncology study.  At the conference he met Dr. Gautam Nayak, ACC Washington Chapter President.
