New WSU Pediatric Residency Begins in Spokane

WSU Pediatric Residents

The first cohort of doctors to serve in the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine’s new Pediatric Residency Program started their orientation on June 20. Six new resident physicians are joining the Spokane medical community to further their medical training in pediatrics.

WSU’s Pediatric Residency Program was established in partnership with Providence Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. The resident physicians will spend most of their time at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane and will also work at CHAS Health, Kaiser Permanente, MultiCare, and Shriners Children’s clinics. The program is the first of its kind of east of the Cascades in Washington.

The three-year training program will welcome six new resident physicians each year, meaning it will host 18 residents at a time once all cohorts are filled.

The WSU College of Medicine also operates a Family Medicine Residency Program in partnership with Pullman Regional Hospital and an Internal Medicine Residency program in partnership with Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. We currently have 52 residents advancing their training and treating patients across Washington.
