In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs until Oct. 15, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center released The Atlas of Inspiring Hispanic/Latinx Scientists. It features Lucia Peixoto, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Translational Medicine and Physiology at the WSU College of Medicine.

“It is an honor to be featured alongside many friends and colleagues,” Peixoto said.

Peixoto’s research interests include sleep, development, autism, and transcriptional regulation. Learn more about the cutting edge research she is leading at WSU by visiting the Peixoto Lab webpage.

The Atlas of Inspiring Hispanic/Latinx Scientists is an effort by Fred Hutch to showcase the expertise, talents, and diversity of Hispanic and Latinx scientific faculty. Featured scientists were identified through a nomination system. Nominations for 2025 are accepted for faculty and non-faculty.
