This Might Hurt Documentary

In recognition of Pain Awareness Month (September) and the need for pain treatment equity, the interprofessional RELIEF project team is hosting a Zoom Webinar event that will include a panel discussion of This Might Hurt, a documentary highlighting a non-pharmacologic treatment for chronic pain with Howard Schubiner, MD, an internist and international expert on the topic. Co-hosted in partnership with the College of Nursing’s Inclusivity Council, attendees can earn CE credits along with a free screening of the film prior to the live discussion event.

This learning activity will consist of:

  • Independently watching the documentary entitled This Might Hurt via special access link during the September 9-23, 2024 viewing window.
  • An MC-led Question and Answer (Q&A) live session with film director Marion Cunningham and Dr. Schubiner on Wednesday, September 18, noon – 1:00 p.m. PDT. Attendees will explore pain care inequities and discuss how to improve access to psychological pain care approaches.

 

This session is being offered as part of a WSU series of livestreamed webinars and on-demand online courses. The learning series is titled Pain Management to Support Integrative, Person-Centered Care. It is designed to meet the need for current pain management education focused on integrative evidence-based approaches and risk reduction for person-centered care. Both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches will be highlighted in this series, among experts representing varied health and therapeutic professions.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Medicine and the. The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
