Additional Info
I grew up on a farm in central Washington (Kittitas, WA), which helped me develop on appreciate for rural life and agricultural communities. It’s also one of the reasons I wanted to return to, practice medicine, and raise my family in the PNW. After years of living near Los Angeles and Seattle, I’m especially thankful for Pullman’s lack of traffic and outstanding schools for our kids. During medical school, I was a coordinator at the Montclair Clinic in southern California where I helped train other providers and care for the homeless. I enjoy going on medical missions; I’ve spent time in Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador – and I hope to serve in many more places into the future.
Personal Interests
Currently, life outside of the residency program is full of my kids’ activities. Whether it’s basketball or baseball games, gymnastics meets or dance recitals, you will see me out in the community regularly. Our family enjoys traveling and taking our trailer out camping all over the Pacific Northwest. I also love cheering on the Washington State University Cougars (Go Cougs!). My husband and I enjoy trying every restaurant we possibly can throughout the Palouse. But when I do have some downtime, I really enjoy reading and love getting new book recommendations.
Why did you decide to become a Family Medicine physician?
I was always drawn to science, even at a young age. The way our bodies are built and function is still fascinating to me. I decided I wanted to practice family medicine after spending time in college working with a full-spectrum family medicine physician in Chelan, WA. I love the variety that family medicine brings, and the opportunity it provides to truly get to know your patients. I see family medicine providers as the experts in organizing and maintaining health for their patients.
