Dr. Smith currently holds the position of Assistant Research Professor at the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. She is experienced in advanced quantitative analytics and multiple forms of qualitative analysis. Broadly, her research addresses Substance Use. Her research focuses on cannabis, opioids, pain, and genomics. This has led to collaborations locally, within the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene communities, as well as nation- and worldwide. She has been a Co-Investigator or Research Supervisor on over $15 million in grants and contracts over the 8 years she has been with WSU, resulting in over 30 peer reviewed publications and a 2 book chapters. She has reviewed for 18 journals and currently serves on the Society for Prevention Research International Committee; the Center for Cannabis Policy, Research, and Outreach Board; and she a member of the Center for Novel Therapeutics in Addiction Psychiatry.
