Research
Dr. Burduli’s research centers on improving outcomes for pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders and their infants. She investigates the impact of prenatal substance exposure on birth and developmental outcomes, with a particular focus on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), and develops innovative, evidence-based interventions to support maternal and infant health. Her long-term goal is to reduce health disparities by identifying key opportunities for intervention and improving systems of care for families affected by perinatal substance use. Dr. Burduli is currently supported by a Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to develop and evaluate a mobile caregiving education tool for perinatal women with opioid use disorder. She also leads a statewide evaluation of a Spokane-based pediatric transitional care facility for infants with NAS.
