Additional Info

Dr. Hecker attended the University of Washington for medical school and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Utah. She has practiced internal medicine in a variety of settings including as an outpatient primary care physician, a medical director for skilled nursing/long term care and as a hospitalist for a community health system and most recently through the Veteran Affairs Administration. She joined the medical school with the inaugural class in 2017 and has taught clinical reasoning and clinical skills through the Art and Practice of Medicine component, large group didactics and serving as the Case Based Learning component director. She has also provided coaching and learning support to students and in 2023, she oversaw the launch of the Student Learning Center. She continually strives to create an environment where all learners can thrive. Dr. Hecker enjoys reading, learning about learning, writing, being in nature, escape rooms, spending time with her husband and daughter and finding humor in medicine and everyday life.
