College Welcomes Ted Chauvin as Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs

Ted Chauvin

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ted Chauvin as assistant dean for faculty affairs, effective October 1. He will lead efforts to respond to and advocate for faculty needs across the College of Medicine.

Dr. Chauvin brings extensive service and leadership to this role, having served as chair of the Foundations of Medicine Subcommittee of the Undergraduate Medical Education Committee (UMEC) and the Senate’s Graduate Study Committee. He has also been a member of the Admissions and UMEC committees, WSU Faculty Senate, and Faculty Senate Steering Committee. His experience in nearly all aspects of faculty life at the College of Medicine, relationships with faculty across departments, and ability to listen and advocate for faculty will be instrumental in this new role.

In addition to his history of service, Dr. Chauvin serves as an associate professor in the Department of Translational Medicine and Physiology with a research emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of sperm maturation and how it relates to fertility and contraception. A passionate educator with over 13 years of experience, he was instrumental in developing the MD program and received the 2021 Excellence in Teaching Award after being nominated by his students. He currently teaches in the Master of Science Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Exercise Physiology and co-leads the scholarship and inquiry MEDSCHLR courses.

Join us in celebrating Dr. Chauvin’s new role.
