Spokane-based Appiture Biotechnologies, founded by WSU College of Medicine Assistant Professor Georgina Lynch, PhD, CCC-SLP, was recently awarded a $25,000 grant to advance its mission.

Appiture Biotechnologies is using cutting-edge technology and decades of medical expertise to find innovative ways to detect autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Washington Competes Grant, awarded by the Life Science Washington Institute in partnership with the Washington State Department of Commerce, will allow Lynch and her team to develop technology to help doctors diagnose ASD at an earlier age.

“The funds will be used to complete our prototype and work with a regulatory specialist to prepare our submission to the FDA for pre-market clearance,” said Lynch.

Lynch has more than 20 years of clinical experience with ASD as a speech-language pathologist. She is a faculty researcher in the Speech and Hearing Sciences department. She also leads biometric research and development for Appiture Biotechnologies.
