WSU’s Latine Med Student Association recently partnered with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Latinos en Spokane for a colon cancer awareness event. Their booth at the El Mercadito event in Spokane even included an inflatable colon.
Cancer is the leading cause of death among Latines, and access to screenings remains a significant. WSU LMSA students gave tours through the inflatable colon and helped educate participants about the importance of colonoscopies to prevent colon cancer deaths.
