MD Student Awarded Clinical Challenge Finalist

Douglas Nanu, MD Class of 2025

Third-year WSU medical student Douglas Nanu has been selected as one of 12 finalists in Elsevier’s 2023 Clinical Challenge. Elsevier is a provider of tools, information, and analytics used by researchers and health care professionals.

The Clinical Challenge was a virtual competition where medical students from across the United States completed in virtual patient cases. Semi-finalists were asked to submit a video interview on their perspective of Generative AI in medical education.

“Douglas’ video submission set them apart from their peers and demonstrated oustanding skills, knowledge, and dedication in the medical field,” read Nanu’s acceptance letter. “We extend our sincere congratulations to Douglas for achieving this milestone and recognition. Their success is not only a source of pride for themselves but also for Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University, as it showcases the caliber of students among peers at a national level.”

As a finalist, Nanu is invited to participate in a student summit in New Orleans in February.
