College of Medicine Action Plan for WSU Microsoft Storage Changes

You have likely received multiple communications regarding changes to Microsoft storage limits at Washington State University, which will take effect by April 15. As this is an evolving university-wide initiative, we would like to clarify how the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine will address these changes.

Microsoft storage is a shared institutional resource. While some workloads require more storage and others less, there are associated costs, and we all share responsibility for using these resources appropriately. At the same time, we will not compromise our educational, research, administrative, compliance, or other priorities.

To support our community, MedTech will proactively increase storage quotas for students, staff, and faculty whose usage exceeds the new WSU baseline. You may continue to see quota notifications or additional communications from the university; however, the College of Medicine will manage quota adjustments locally to ensure you have sufficient space for both current and anticipated needs.

No action is required on your part to request an increase. Quotas will be reviewed and adjusted individually as needed. In rare cases where usage patterns suggest a more appropriate storage platform is available, we may reach out directly to discuss options.

We do not anticipate any downtime or service interruptions; however, this process is not fully automated. If you experience issues with Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, or Microsoft Teams storage, please contact medicine.tech@wsu.edu and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Our goal is to make this university transition seamless for the College of Medicine community. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or to discuss specific storage scenarios.
