Applications Open for Medical Interpreter Certification Scholarship

Applications are open for the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine’s new Medical Interpreter Certification Scholarship, which aims to improve access to language-concordant care. The deadline to apply is April 15.

Bilingual first- and second-year WSU medical students interested in becoming a trained and nationally certified medical interpreter are invited to apply online. Spots are limited.

Full Scholarship Includes

  • ALTA Medical Interpreter Training Program
  • NBCM/ Written Examination
  • NBCMI Oral Examination
  • National certification recognized across the United States

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be an MS1 or MS2 at WSU
  • Be fluent in English and the certification language
  • Be able to complete certification requirements by December 31, 2026
  • Attend monthly virtual cohort check-ins

Program Timeline

Applications are open March 15–April 15, 2026. Cohort selection will be made on a rolling through May 1, 2026.
