





WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine medical students showcased their research and took home awards for best poster at the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Region I Medical Education Conference, held this year at the University of California Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California.
Gabrielle Cua (MS2), Chau Amoeni (MS2), and William Ge (MS2) with principle investigator Antony Kim, MD, earned first place for their poster presentation, “Design and Implementation of a Novel Approach to Improving Heart Murmur Recognition in Pre-Clinical Medical Students.”
Bethelehem Gebre (MS2) secured third place with her poster, “Incidence Rates of Concomitant Diagnosis of T-cell Malignancies in Patients with Multiple Myeloma.”
Additional student research presentations covered a range of topics, with Harkirat Minhas (MS2) presenting on “Multilevel Study of Cancer Inequities in Underserved Populations in Washington,” Dipika Carolyn Devadoss (MS2) on “Prevalence of Behavior, Mental Health, and Learning Problems in Pediatric Single Large-Scale Mitochondrial DNA Deletion Syndromes (SLSMDS),” and Anne Onyali (MS2) on “Discrimination and Social Determinants of Mental Health Among Coordinated Specialty Care Clients.” Nancy Nguyen (MS2) also attended the conference.
