Medical Students Represent WSU at American Medical Association Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Several medical students from the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine attended last month’s American Medical Association Interim Meeting of the House of Delegates in Washington, D.C., to engage in policymaking, professional development, and organized medicine leadership.

The WSU delegation was deeply involved in shaping the work of the Medical Student Section (MSS):

  • Emily Bundy (MS2) served on the Rules Committee, where she ultimately stepped into an informal chair role and guided the committee through its work. She also presented her research at the Poster Showcase.
  • Carsten Schmidt (MS2) presented his own poster at the showcase and contributed to the Credentialing Committee, ensuring the smooth functioning and verification processes of the MSS assembly.
  • Hannah Eckert (MS2) represented WSU as our delegate, participating in extensive preparation meetings in advance of the conference. She played a key role in helping Region 1 of the MSS develop its positions on policy proposals coming before the assembly.
  • Noushyar Panahpour Eslami (MS3) attended as WSU’s alternate delegate, supporting assembly voting processes.
  • Madelyn Hartrim-Lowe (MS2) served as co-chair of the Logistics Committee, helping to coordinate and support the operational flow of the MSS assembly throughout the conference.    

Together, the team collaborated with medical students from across the country, engaged in discussions on issues shaping the future of medicine, and proudly represented WSU on a national stage.
