Amber Fyfe-Johnson, ND, PhD, an assistant professor at the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, was featured on Science Friday, a program broadcast on 524 public radio stations and NPR’s Science Friday podcast.

She was joined by one of her collaborators, Jack Gilbert, PhD, at University of California San Diego. The researchers discuss the health benefits of exposing children to the outdoors, including immune stimulation and development of a diverse gut microbiome.

“Early childhood is a critical development window because the immune system is really plastic in early life,” Fyfe-Johnson explains on the show.
