Xiang Yu “Vincent” Gao, a third-year medical student at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, presented in Chicago at Digestive Disease Week 2026, the world’s largest and most prestigious conference in gastroenterology and hepatology.
He presented two research abstracts, including a highly competitive oral presentation reserved for top-ranked submissions.
Working with collaborators at Providence, the University of Washington, and Stanford University, Gao examined risk prediction for hepatocellular carcinoma following hepatitis C cure and real-world outcomes in pancreatic cyst management.
These achievements highlight Gao’s early impact in academic medicine and his commitment to advancing gastrointestinal cancer prevention.
