Difficult Conversations, Better Outcomes: Managing Conflict Effectively

This event is hosted by the Office for Faculty Affairs and Continuing Professional Development in collaboration with Craig Fischer, Senior Director of Organizational Leadership and Development in The Office of Organizational and Leadership Development.

Conflict is an inevitable part of working with others—and when handled well, it can strengthen relationships, improve decision-making, and build trust. Yet most of us have received little training in how to navigate disagreement effectively. This session provides practical tools and strategies for approaching difficult conversations with greater confidence, clarity, and emotional intelligence.

Participants will learn how to recognize common sources of workplace conflict, communicate effectively when emotions are high, and address tension before it escalates. Through real-world examples and actionable techniques, leaders will gain skills to engage in productive conversations, manage challenging dynamics, and turn conflict into an opportunity for collaboration and growth.

This session is intended for College of Medicine faculty and staff only.
