This talk will be presented by Dr. Kristina (Kristy) Johnson, Assistant Professor at Northeastern University, jointly appointed in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Communication Sciences & Disorders.

Dr. Johnson’s interdisciplinary research focuses on individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and rare genetic disorders, working at the intersection of science, engineering, and developmental neuroscience. In this talk, she will discuss novel approaches to capturing and characterizing communication in non- or minimally-speaking individuals with profound neurodevelopmental disorders, highlighting innovative methods and technologies that enhance clinical assessment, intervention, and augmentative communication.
