MD students accepted into the 2023 Latino Center for Health Graduate Student Scholars Fellowship Program

First-year medical students Gabriela Leon and Destiny Hernandez have been accepted into the 2023 Latino Center for Health Graduate Student Scholars Fellowship Program.

The program recognizes outstanding students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting the health and well-being of Latinx/e communities in Washington State. Particularly in the following areas —physical, mental, occupational or environmental health; health policy; healthcare leadership & administration; or violence and injury prevention.

We’re proud to have Gabriela and Destiny at the college and excited to see their continued impacts on the Latinx/e communities in Washington and beyond.

More about the program:

Purpose
(1) Support the next generation of leaders and scholars who will promote the health and well-being of Latinx/e communities in our state.
(2) Expand the educational pipeline for Latinx/e and other underrepresented groups and work towards population parity in our state’s healthcare workforce; and
(3) Convene an interdisciplinary cohort of health sciences students in the spirit of facilitating personal and professional connections and community-building.
